Bulls Eye: New Photographs by Martin Benjamin Mandeville Gallery, Union College, Schenectady, NY March 24 – May 22, 2011
Bulls Eye included a selection of photographs by Martin Benjamin, Professor of Visual Art at Union College. The works depict Benjamin’s experience as an artist living in the United States and abroad in Italy and Vietnam. Benjamin catches subtle dualities in skillfully composed compositions and with an arresting treatment of light. His photographs evoke both nostalgic and emotional responses to the people and environments he encounters.
In connection with the exhibition I edited a full-color 28 page catalog with opening essay by Shelby Lee Adams.
